Two weeks ago, the CORE class went to the food pantry together to serve the poor for Lent. We helped push in carts, bagged people’s food, and conversed with the people there. Seeing struggling people helped me learn to be more grateful for the things I have. While bagging items, I noticed how excited the people got over the things I take for granted. Many of them did not want help bagging their items because they wanted to feel more independent. There were many people who did want help, and they were all very sweet. A little later into the trip, a classmate and I went outside to push carts and help people with their bags. Most of the people had many bags, and it felt good to help them out.
